In July, Janice M. Boss, M.S., was named director of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.

Boss brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Since 1983 she has held a variety of leadership posts at VA medical centers around the country, most recently as director for the VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Wilkes-Barre, Penn.

Boss began her career in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the VAMC in Boston, Mass., where she started as an administrative resident and went on to serve in four other administrative positions.

She then moved to Baltimore, Md., to join the VA’s Eastern Division office.

During the Clinton administration, when the VA was reorganized and decentralized into 22 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs), she returned to Boston to establish the first network office, for VISN 1.

In 1996, Boss moved to California to become director of network operations for VISN 22, based in Long Beach.

She held subsequent positions as associate director at VAMC San Diego, as director of the VAMC in Iron Mountain, Mich., for two-and-a-half years, and as served interim director at the Philadelphia VAMC. Boss received her bachelor’s degree from Trenton State College and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Houston.
